U.S. VeteranRoger Mitchell Weymouth "Rod" passed peacefully on Sunday, 18 Nov 2012, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas after suffering complications related to long term ailments, he was 63 years old. Rod was a resident of Augusta, Kansas.

He leaves a sister, Virginia McClanahan and her husband Kevin, of Maitland, Florida and a brother, Donald Weymouth and his wife Amy, of Holden, Massachusetts. He also leaves four nephews and nieces, Brian Gentile and his wife Michele, Tracy Gentile, Drew Weymouth and his wife Lauralyn, and Elizabeth Matos and her husband Gil. He also had 6 grand nephews and one grand niece an uncle and aunt John and Norma Cragin.


He was a wrestler in high school and an avid duckpin bowler advancing to the national championship as a youth. He also leaves his employer, landlord and adopted family of Paul and Wanda Schellhorn of Augusta, Kansas.

Rod graduated from Francis T. Maloney High school in Meriden, Connecticut in 1967 and attended Middlesex Community College. He served in the U.S. Navy and was based in the Philippines and Morocco as well as at sea off the coast of Vietnam. In Meriden, he worked at Preece's Garage after being discharged from the Navy, then on to Paint By Wayne and eventually owned Rod's Auto and Truck Service,specializing in auto electronics. He raced both oval track and drag throughout Connecticut and was an avid follower of NASCAR. He relocated to Augusta, Kansas 10 years ago and worked at Schellhorn Roofing while volunteering at many venues, including various computer security forums: CNET's Virus & Security Forum, the Alliance of Security Professionals, Calendar of Updates, Log'n'Rock computer Security, Nut'n Works, and Lanzdown forums. He followed the Wichita State University shockers sports teams, especially the women's softball team and was a frequent visitor to the Tanganyika Wildlife Park and the Sedgwick County Zoo both in Wichita. Rod volunteered at the American Legion Post 189, the Augusta Arts Theatre, the Augusta Historical Society and Museum and was an avid member of the Kansas branch of Red Sox Nation and a canvasser for the Jimmy Fund, which supports Dana Farber Cancer Institute. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, 29 Nov 2012, in the Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel, Augusta, Kansas at 10:00 am. His ashes will be interred at the Wixson Memorial Gardens at the Gilford Community Church Cemetery in Gilford, New Hampshire next to his parents, Gordon and Jean Weymouth during the Spring.
